[Opinions] Ava & Eva
I love Ava and Eva as names but I know first cousins called this and feel the names are too close to both be in the same generation of the same family WDYT of Ava and Eva though?

I like them both but I prefer Eva. Ava is way too overused these days.

Ava is a name I've always liked, but at this point it's likely too popular for me (more than 15,000 born every year in the US from 2006-2018 means that there are way too many ranging from kindergartners to those in their final year of high school; though the births are dropping). I only like Eva pronounced the Spanish way, otherwise it reminds me too much of "evil" (Eve doesn't so this as much).

They appear too close for cousins unless they don’t share a surname and don’t interact much. I much prefer Eva, it seems more classic and international, Ava has the potential to become very dated.

I don't enjoy Ava; too close to things like aviaries. Eva is a family name and I do like it but I prefer Eve. Which would be a natural nn for an Eva person, so that would work out well. Together, Ava and Eva do sound silly.

Both are nice, it wouldn't worry me about being cousins

I don't care if cousins are named exactly the same thing. I do pronounce Ava and Eva the same and consider them basically the same name, like I would Katelyn vs Caitlin. Technically Eva is EH-vah, but in my accent that's pretty indistinguishable from AY-vuh.I slightly prefer the Eva spelling, maybe because I like Eve or maybe because it seems more traditional and international, plus I don't like that Ava reminds me of Ave. However, I'm not sure which I'd actually use IRL, if I had to, since Ava seems so much more expected nowadays, where I live, and it'd feel simpler to just pick that.I have a cousin with a preteen daughter named Ava. I thought it was a boring choice but not a bad one.

Yes they are too similar for cousins. I don't like Ava but I don't dislike it, it's just bland. I'd prefer it as a nickname for something longer like Aveline. I love Eva with either the AY-va or EH-va pronunciation, but I don't like EE-va as much.
