The year is currently 1960. At the turn of the war, Auguste and Elspeth were excited about finally being reunited after many years apart, but luck wouldn't be on their side. Auguste's plane was shot down and he was presumed dead in 1945, just months before the war ended. Elspeth was heartbroken and her reunion with Marceau, Marion and Iris was bittersweet as they celebrated being back together again but mourned the loss of their father. Although Elspeth had many potential suitors who wanted to sweep her off her feet, she simply couldn't move on from Auguste and committed herself to being a single mother to her three children. Marceau pursued a passion for science and went to study Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, where he still remains in pursuit of a doctorate. He kept in touch with the daughter of the family who cared for him when he was evacuated, and they soon fell in love and married. They now have two young children. Marion struggled to cope with her father's death but soon found solace in painting, and her art was chosen for display at a local art gallery when she was 18. There, she met her DH, an aspiring lawyer with an appreciation for all things creative, and they had a son shortly after marrying. Iris remains uncertain of what to do with her life, and spends much of her time partying and socialising with her friends and DBf, but is starting to feel like she wants to find her purpose and perhaps the crowd she's currently in isn't the crowd for her.
