I think it's more that a "ree" pronunciation would be an English/British thing. :)
Reyna looks Spanish (to Americans but also in general? Like
Reina and
Reynaldo, even though I guess there is
Reynold which I would say "ren-uld"). Idk why
Rhea and
Reagan are often "reh/ray" here, maybe Irish/German/Italian/Spanish/Greek influence (I think of
Beatrice,
Shea,
Andrea,
Amedea,
Thea). I think Americans would pronounce
Riagan "ree-gan" plus
Rhiannon is always "ree" here.
