[Opinions] Emery
Thoughts on Emery for a girl?Is it too trendy? To me it feels neutral and not overly trendy because I pair it with Emily, Emmy and Marie.I also love the nickname Emmy and it makes me think of forests somehow.

I see I’m in the minority but I really like it. I think it’s pretty and a lot more interesting than Emma, Emily et al.
The whole nail file thing never occurred to me at all and it doesn’t deter me now that’s it has been brought up either.
It is trendy while the others are more classic/timeless. But I think I’d rather be an Emery than an Emma or Emily and I’d rather use it to name a daughter as well.

Despise it. This spelling is far less appealing than Emory, which for a boy is fine, but this seems uber trendy, just another bnog and that is so boring. Emma, Emily and Marie are far superior choices for a girl.

It seems masculine to me outside the context of Emma's popularity, so (regardless of whether it's too trendy), yes, it seems very trendy. I have a friend who used Emry as a MN for her daughter; her daughter is 7 years old and has a FN in the top 10.I'd still pick Emery over Emily or Emmy or Emerson. Maybe not over Emma or Avery, but it's pretty close.

A bit abrasive ?jk but yeah, emery board. It's surnamey, like Avery.I don't mind Emerie so much though. It makes me think of a smush of, say, Emerald and Marie. It's pleasant and seems fashionable. Better than Emersyn. I'd rather be Emerie than Evelyn, personally (ymmv). Also Averie > Avery (Avery reminds me of office products, and of ovary).

It's okay, I'd file it with Everly etc. But it does make the think "emery board". I didn't know that an emery board was a nail file until I saw the other comments but I definitely knew that there was something called an emery board.

Perhaps filing one's nails is more a female than a male occupation? But that doesn't make it suitable as a name: what would her sisters be - Scissors, File, Varnish?

It’s handsome on a boy. I don’t like it at all for a girl.

I wholeheartedly agree. I hate Emery on a girl. It's a real shame how trendy and common it has gotten among girls. );

It's very trendy: unisex, surname, emmy nn. Yawn.
Also, it makes me think of nail files. I hate the sound of someone filing fingernails.
