It's a good name. Not gonna lie, as a french speaker, I strongly associate it with a certain generation. Doesn't mean it's a bad name, just very popular at one point in time.

I'd give it a 6/10. Pretty and classic. Not a fav or mine, but could be given to a girl and I wouldn't see a problem with it.

Sylvia has timeless dignity; Sylvie as a full name is infantile.

I’m not sure if I would describe it as dated or even foreign but it definitely has an “out of place” vibe - like a fairy (the trickster kind, not the smutty kind).
I don’t like Sylvie but I do like Sylvia and Sylvana. They’re straight forward.
I’d give Sylvie 4/10. I’d probably pair it with a French or English middle name.

it’s sweet. I love it and think of the Grant Amato true crime story and Sylvie the cam model he loves still.

I like it, not at all dated, but I do prefer it more as a nn of Sylvia, rather than as a standalone.
