[Opinions] Mallory/Malory on a boy
Does Mallory or Malory work as a first name for a boy? Better as a middle name?
Mallory itself seems dated as a feminine name, but I think Mal is still a popular nickname for boys and it would be fun to be named after Sir Thomas Malory. Still not something I'd use myself, but what do you think?
It seems like it should be unisex since it's a surname but it's only listed as feminine and only charted in the US, one big spike in the 80's and then a slow decline from there. I'm surprised it never became popular as a male first name.
(Maybe it's because nobody wants to be called 'unfortunate', but other names have gotten popular with bad meanings.)

I wouldn't recommend it
I've never heard it for boy because it sounds feminine for me. It's fine for me. I prefer Mallory for girl over boy.
Oh man, this is totally unheard of. But I kinda like it.
To me it doesn't work, but that's probably because I grew up in the U.S. in the '90's and knew a lot of girls named Mallory.
I like Mal for a boy, and Mallory or Malory as a full name for Mal is unique and fun. I think it could be nice on a character.
I like Malory/ Mallory, but the meaning is unfortunate. More than other names with less than great meanings, I can imagine it triggering people's superstitions. It can see it as a middle name more than a first for a modern kid.
For a boy, I like Bellamy. For a girl, Valorie / Valory.

I definitely think it could work, and I certainly prefer it on a boy. Mal is very masculine (but not macho).
I don't like it for a boy
I don't like this name for either
