Gazelle sort of makes me laugh because I think it is a mistaken reading of
Giselle. It's weird as a name.
Fawn is nms, mainly because it is a baby animal. Fawns are appealing mainly for seeming clumsy and delicate and easy prey, and that makes it seem exceedingly weak. Also it reminds me of the verb too much, which is bad as a name concept, and also reminds me of "fond," and anyway I just don't like the faw sound. Has a similar vibe (rural waif, circa 1973) to
Misty,
Tawny,
Dawn,
Star,
Lacey,
Honey,
Tammy,
Shawna - so it does feel like a legit name, unlike Gazelle.
eta after reading
Ohad Yigal's post: the reference to "my beloved is like a gazelle" gets at something I don't like about these names. I don't like the idea of naming a child, or aspiring on their behalf, with the same or similar disposition one brings to admiring a lover. I wouldn't want my parents to name me that way. YMMV
