I've noticed that recently it is a trend to give baby girls names that are historically more masculine. Names like
Logan or
Sawyer on a girl are slowly creeping up into popularity, for example. I'm curious- What are your favorite and least favorite examples of this?
My favorite masculine name for a girl is
Jasper. I think it's a very strong name that is able to suit anyone well regardless of gender. I'm also just generally a fan of gemstone names, so I'm a sucker for this one as well. Especially considering that a lot of gem names all sound very dainty (
Amethyst,
Diamond,
Ruby, etc.) so having a strong name like
Jasper in the mix definitely shakes things up.
My least favorite is
Hunter, hands down. It's a name that I think is ugly even if it's on a boy. Also, a female hunter is a huntress! So why would you knowingly name a girl
Hunter? It's a name that has the connotation of being a man literally baked into it. So it just doesn't make sense. Not to mention that as a huge animal lover I hate any sort of connotation with hunting anyways.
