I've been poking around some records in my local archives, and discovering some really cool things about my ancestors. It's so exciting! They were not fancy people, but I am just excited to learn their names, when they were born and got married, stuff like that.
I was able to discover the names of all my great-grandmother's siblings. However, according to these records, my great-grandma was the ONLY child among them not to be given a middle name! I don't understand why. Maybe they thought she was going to die? It is a bit of a mystery.
So I thought: she needs an honorary middle name, bestowed upon her by me, her descendant. I'm sure she'd like that. So I thought I'd share what I know, and ask you all for your input to help me brainstorm a fake middle name for my dead great grandma. Just for fun.
Her sibling set was:

Ellen was born in 1903, and was a very calm, quiet, kind lady, as far as family stories tell. She endured much tragedy in the style of a Gothic midwest tale. She was a spinster and married late in life, for her era. She became a teacher after her husband killed himself in an asylum, because their youngest son died at age 5. As a widow,
Ellen turned down the proposals of two men who were in love with her (in a strange twist of fate, one of those suitors turned out to be the grandfather of her granddaughter's husband). According to family lore, she was killed by a parrot.
What middle name would you give Grandma
Ellen that fits with her siblings and her life??
:)
