[Opinions] Make me love or hate these
I'm cleaning out my PNL (again) and there's just soo many names that I feel like are in the middle of love and dislike and I feel like it's cluttering my list. I know it doesn't actually matter but I thought y'all can help me declutter a bit. I'm going to start posting these once a day or soToday's roundup:- Cadhla- Lorena- Annika (pick your favorite / most tolerable pronunciation)- Dinah- Janet- Bibiana

Replies

Cadhla - I like to look at it, but I hate to hear it, it's just Kyla. Toss it!
Lorena - gives me Civil War AND 1940s starlet vibes, it's win-win. Keep!
Annika - I hate this name passionately. I don't often think a name is ugly, but Annika is ugly. It's so brittle and anemic and I feel like it's judging me. I would dump it before it dumps you. Toss!
Dinah - Adorable and warm! I think of the kitten from Alice in Wonderland, and Dinah Shore, and Dinah Washington... a retro GEM. Keep!
Janet - Due for a comeback, you'll see, it might take 15 years, but Janet will return. Keep!
Bibiana - super fun, but I think I'd just prefer Bibi. Toss it!
Cadhla- not sure how to pronounce upon reading, should go
Lorena- solid girl name, neutral
Annika- this is a favorite of mine, should go (I joke, keep)
Dinah- I love this though it remind me of the song, keep
Janet- deserves a come back, keep
Bibiana- definitely one of the more fascinating B names but I don’t like it, should goEDIT: oh as for Annika’s pronunciation, I don’t think you can go wrong. I like both ahn-a-ka and ann-a-ka

Cadhla - too hard to pronounce and spell
Lorena - the association with Lorena Bobbitt
Annika is pretty but I prefer Anika
Dinah - reminds me of dinner
Janet - very old fashioned and Jackson
Bibiana - think of bib, prefer Viviana
Cadhla - pretty sound, bad spelling. Remove and replace with something else.
Lorena - stunning, a classic. Keep.
Annika - absolutely gorgeous, one of my favorite names. PLEASE keep.
Dinah - reminds of me the folk song. I can’t take it seriously. Remove.
Janet - ugly, whiny name. Remove.
Bibiana - weird sound. I prefer Vivian or Viviana. Remove.
There's a folk song? And which Annika pronunciation do you prefer? And no, I don't mind at all
I exclusively pronounce it AHN-i-kuh.Look up “Dinah blow your horn”!
Also, do you mind if I steal this idea?
- Cadhla - find this to be a high maintenance name. If not Irish, or Gaelic knowledgebable, this is high annoyance/confusion potential. Remove.
- Lorena - pleasant, comfortable, nondemanding. Keep.
- Annika - pleasant, most can find a comfortable pronounciation, just a bit off center enough to make younikers happy. Keep.
- Dinah - delightful, uncommon, quite bouncy and snappy. Keep.
- Janet - pleasant if a bit stodgy. Might be better as a middle. Toss up, but leaning remove.
- Bibiana - irritatingly 'look at me' rather than in a cute way. Remove.
Thank you!
Cadhla - better left to the Irish
Lorena - Laura is immensely preferable
Annika (pick your favorite / most tolerable pronunciation) - Anneke where I live. I'm not really a fan.
Dinah - lovely: keep it
Janet - lovely: keep it
Bibiana - much prefer Vivien
Thank you!
Cadhla - lovely name but I’m not Irish and I had to look up the pronunciation, throw out or possibly use Kyla (I know it’s a different name)
Lorena - pretty, keep
Annika - the pronunciation that doesn’t make it sound like the herb arnica. Also pretty, keep
Dinah - I never know how to pronounce this and it reminds me of a diner, throw out
Janet - too dated, throw out
Bibiana - awful and clunky, throw out and use Viviana instead
Thank you! I have a traumatizing personal connection with a "Vivi" so any Vivi- names are out for me unfortunately. I used to love Vivian!I pronounce Dinah like diner just with an -a at the end. It bothers me sometimes because I think of someone trying to say diner with a stereotypical Boston accent.Aand I have something against K's aesthetically for the most part so Kyla doesn't work for me lol Thanks again!
