[Opinions] Boudicca
I found two Boudicca‘s in UK birth announcements. What’s your opinion on Boudicca?
How do you pronounce it?

I love the idea that the Brits had not one, but two Queen Victorias! But it's not a human name any more; just possibly a mn, but only if one's ancestors came over with William the Conqueror, and even then it would be pretty cheeky.

That's neat. I say boo-dih-kuh. I've entertained the idea of using it in posts that ask "what would you name a kid if their name had the same meaning as yours" before. I could see it. It seems venerable like Brigitta, plus wacky sounding with legendary status like Dido.It seems like such a cat name. Mostly because of Boo (I know of 2 "Boo" cats, though one was male) - it's the most grandiose elaboration of Boo I think of. I also know of an elderly woman who was called Boo - I don't know what her official name was.Boadicea is a perfume company, and Boudicca Wode is another fragrance I've seen, but I don't associate them that strongly.

I love it. It's pretty. It's cool to hear it's being used on humans again.

I just realized that a former friend's cat, who she always called "Boo", was probably actually named Boudicca, because I later found out that she (my friend) believed herself to be Boudicca reincarnated (seriously).Wow. I always thought Boo the cat was named after the little girl from Monsters Inc. I never put the Boudicca - Boo thing together until right now. Wild! It's kinda cute. I prefer Boadicea, but Boudicca would sure be fun to come across.

Lovely name; too extravagant to be used in real life, though. I prefer Boadicea.

Maybe for an ancient queen, or a sorceress in a fantasy book or something, but I'm not sure how I feel about it on an actual person. Boudy as a nickname would be cute on a pet, but for a person, it sounds a bit close to booty and she would 100% get teased.
I read it as BOO-dih-ka, but idk if that's correct.

It's the name of my female cat! I of course adore it. I pronounce it "BOO-dih-kuh" and call her Boudy ("boody").
