Vanessa and Jessica became popular around the time the “ss” sound/spelling was trendy, so I think that’s why. Jessica probably seemed similar to Jennifer too, which was popular just before. I think Susan was seen as attractive when it was popular, as most of those names have similar (ugly) vibes to me. I’ve got nothing for Rebecca—that name is just not good and doesn’t fit any trends.
