In Colonial America, the original Zeb Davis, Mr. Davis' great grandfather, was involved in a pre-Revolutionary movement in South Carolina (as suggested by WillowBelle). He was captured and summarily executed by the British Colonial Governor, and his property was confiscated. The Davis family has never forgotten this grave insult to their honour, not to mention their wealth. They swore to take vengeance, even if it was to be exacted centuries later. In 1910, the Colonial Governor is long deceased. But Zeb Davis has learned that one of the Colonial Governor's descendants would be present at the Hastings' party, and he arranged to be there himself. The descendant in question is Sir _______ _______ , who has no idea whatsoever he has made a rival of Zeb Davis IV. He has never step foot in America: in fact, he had not stepped foot in his native England in months before coming to The Nightingale's Nest.He has spent the past several months big game hunting in British East Africa, and was intending to stay for longer - but something cut his trip short, and he raced back to England. But whatever trouble he was fleeing from might already have found him...Unsurprisingly, he is the best hunter in the party. _______ lives for the thrill of the chase, and it's not just big game we are speaking of. He is widely known as a libertine and smooth operator who ensnares unsuspecting hearts. But it seems that _______ is out of his usual turf. For if anyone has caught his attention at the party, it is the Duke of Somerset.Sir _______ "_______" _______ _______ , BaronetFirst name: the name of a fictional Byronic or Gothic hero which lends itself to the two-syllable nickname he goes by among friends.Middle name: a French surname.Surname: any name from this list - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_extant_baronetcies#Baronetage_of_England_(1611%E2%80%931705).BONUS (optional, just for fun - I may or may not take inspiration): What draws Sir _______ 's attention to the Duke of Somerset, and could their interaction hold any significance in the context of the murder mystery? 🕊️❣️🌻💌🌻❣️🕊️masculine list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/191050/124079

Sir Raymond "Randy" Lavigne Skipwith, BaronetSir Randy and the Duke were once part of the same hunting group, up until right before Randy left for Africa. The Duke, though he loved the sport, was prone to drink while out on the trail. While he was under the influence, he accidentally shot Randy's best dog, and when Randy tried to get the gun from him, he was grazed by a misfire. While on the surface, all had seemed to be resolved (indeed the Duke apologised profusely and brought Sir Randy a pup "just like the old girl"), Sir Randy is bitter and sees the Duke as a fool and isn't keen to indulge him as their statuses dictate.

Sir St. Clair-Erskine may have been receptive to His Grace’s advances and there might still be some lingerings there (and resentment for bringing up these unwanted feelings for another man)

Sir Jonathan attended boarding school with the future Duke of Somerset and the two were friends. The Duke had a bad reputation as a schoolboy and Sir Jonathan was regarded as a good influence. Imagine the masters' surprise if they knew the mischief which he actually got up to! After taking one liberty too far, Jonathan was almost expelled, until the future Duke stepped up and took the blame for him. The two never saw each other again - until tonight.
