The meaning is joy of my father or something akin to that. When they say "father" are they referencing God or the girl's biological father?

The God of the Old Testament didn't seem to like women much. Probably the biological Dad.

Yes, as RoxStar pointed out, probably both. I thought if it specifically referred to the biological father, the meaning would be more literal.
