I got an old old baby name book which was full of traditional names and in the middle of them all I saw Waldbenga as an option for a girl. I have never heard of the name anywhere else before and nothing much came up on a Google search. It reminds me a bit of Topanga. I joked about using it since we were calling our in utero baby Waldo so I said we could use Waldbenga if it was a girl. Curious if anyone has heard this name before or if anyone likes it or would consider using it? I could track down the book and probably say what the meaning was. It seems to stick out in like a sore thumb in this book

I would bet good money on Waldbenga being a mistranscription of Waldberga / Walburga.
It’s not something I would use but it reminds me of Werburgh, the obscure Anglo-Saxon saint who gave her name to my church.

OK yes this makes sense it comes up in Google and has the same meaning and derivation also in a baptismal book. I thought it was so strange Google didn't come back with anything on it 🤣

The name Waldbenga means Powerfully Protected and is of teutonic origins. Never heard the other name before so unsure if the origin and meaning line up

It sounds kind of like a name that my brother and his friends would use for DND.
Probably a misprint or a mistake for Waldburga or Walburga. Of the two genuine names, I prefer Walburga.
I have never heard this name before. I think it sounds horrible for a girl. There's a reason this one is unheard of and never popular.
Turns out it was likely a misprint and probably nobody ever used the book to pick that name out because of all the other normal and beautiful names in it.
