I think it’s quite pretty, especially for a musical family. I think I prefer it for a mn though, as I don’t like the nn Mel.

I like musical names and this one in particular is pretty and doesn't sound too outlandish or made up. I like it more than Melanie.

I like the way Melody looks, but in my accent it sounds like "MELL-uh-dee" which I find less nice.

Melody feels a bit retro ditzy, the same way Brandy or Misty does. It would be a lovely middle name, but I wouldn't want to be called Melody.

I am tone-deaf. When I sing, I am told that I make Bob Dylan sound like Freddie Mercury. If my name had been Melody, it would have been unsuitable and even cruel! I don't enjoy word names as a rule anyway, but this is one of the worst. Plus, I once taught a child named Melody who was very pretty, polite, dishonest, a liar and a cheat. This shouldn't affect my opinion, and I don't think it does, but it certainly adds another layer of meaning.

I once had a rotten boss named Melodee (yes, even the terrible spelling matched her personality). The name just reminds me of her so I don't like it very much.
