I've long loved Mnemosyne ("remembrance"), the mother of the nine muses, but I'm newly enchanted by Mneme ("NEE-mee," "memory"), one of the original three muses. Memory is the human faculty I most treasure. I'm not bothered by any association with memes. What do you think?

I like Mneme but I think I'd prefer it as a nn for Mnemosyne "Mneme"... and I doubt entirely that that would ever be useable in real life, although if I ever ever came across a real person called Mnemosyne or Mneme I would be psyched af. It's a bit like Psyche... so cool, so unique, so mythology... would struggle to make it work in day to day life, in my opinion.

As someone who has worked with people with dementia, and with an aunt with early onset dementia, I too treasure memory. But likely in a different way than you.
As someone who likes the name Mnemosyne, I like Mneme too. At first I thought it was nickname for Mnemosyne. I do think Mneme is confusing though for most as it is awfully close to ‘meme’ and I think that’s what she’ll be called most of the time. My instinct would to call her mne-mee.
Mneme Raphaela is my favourite.

Mneme has a really cute sound. Memory is a fascinating concept to me because it has such strange power. Mneme for that reason feels very witchy to me, there's something Southern Gothic about it: it's warm and nostalgic, sentimental, secretive, and grotesque.
