Well, it's NameBerry, so everything should be taken with plenty of salt.
Since you can only get the top 100 for any state via the SSA site, I'd be interested to know how many of these names are actually in the top 100 for any of the states.
And which names appear on the top 100 lists in both red and blue states.
You can get data beyond the top 100.https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/limits.html

From the blue list I like Fiona, Liana, Kira, Aidan, Kieran, and Nico.
From the red list I like Hattie, Blakely, and Cohen. Most of the names on the red list are too trendy or have unusual spelling.

From the Blue States list I like Fiona, Liana, Mira, Kira, Miriam, Nina, Aisha, Paige, Kayla, Moshe, Kieran, Ari, Aidan, Ibrahim and Nico. From the Red States list I like Hattie, Saylor, Kohen and Sutton. I'm not really a fan of suffixes and surnames as names.
The blue state names are more religious with Miriam / Mirayam, Muhammad, Aisha, Yusuf, Ibrahim, Ali, and Santino. In contrast, not a single one of the red state names are associated with any religion that I'm aware of with the possible exception of Gracelyn, which is sort of a virtue name. The red state names are surnamey and occupational plus an apparent love of oak trees.
I find this fascinating because red states are supposed to be more religious.
Blue have more religious diversity though, as per those names imply
I like Fiona, Kira, Miriam, Nina, Kayla and KieranDon't really like any on the red list
I vastly prefer the first batch of names with my favorites being Fiona, Mira, Paige, Santino, Ari & Ali.
I absolutely do not care for the names in the red states as I don't care much for really trendy, modern fad type names which is what the list is mainly comprised of. If I had to pick a few however, I'd go with Tripp & Hattie.

I'll also add my two cents as someone wth a cousin that grew up in Tennessee but currently lives in Alabama. Her three children have better names than those imo 😆 Wren, Knox and Eden. Not my style, but "classy modern" is how I would describe it.
I’m curious, are Wren and Eden female or male?
I'll also add that there are a couple users on here that ik are southern american but I like their kids names too, but again, not like the names on those lists imo
Yeah, those names aren't bad. Not my style, but not bad at all.
Wren (F), Knox (M), Eden (F)
I am the same as you the only ones that I like on the red side are Hattie. Mayyyybeee Briggs or Sutton on a certain day in a certain mood. Sutton I might like as a F middle name if paired right. Admittedly, I liked Gracelyn as a teenager for a brief while cause I thought it could be a cheeky way to honor me without being too close lmao. Not anymore though. On the blue I like Kieran, Ari, Nico, Fiona, Liana, Mira, Miriam, Nina, AishaHonestly: Kieran, Nico, Mira, Kira and Nina I've all considered for irl future baby names at different times before.
From the blue states lists, I like/love Fiona, Liana, Miriam, Muhammad, Yusuf, Ibrahim and Nico. From the red states lists, I don’t mind Hattie or Cohen. The first two lists are much more to my taste than the latter two lists (and probably the tastes of a lot of people here).
Why are the red states so obsessed with -ley names? Especially Oakley, jeez. Their taste in names is not good, sorry. I only like Saylor. On the blue list, I enjoy Fiona, Liana, Mira, Miriam, Aisha, Paige, Kayla, Kieran, Aidan, and Nico.
The theme is "wanting to maintain tradition but having some Modern unconventionalism." That's the kind of flavors you get from that recipe. Imo, "having your cake and eating it too", but not for the better.
"Why are the red states so obsessed with -ley names?" Because it has a "sound" similar to traditional southern American names without authentically being them. Traditional southern american with *modern* flare. That's my understanding at least based on conversations with southern family members.
