[Opinions] Sadie

The spelling never bothered me. I didn't once think of Sad or Die, but I guess I am now...
I think it sounds cutesy and more like a NN than a legal name, but it does have some friendly girl-next-door vibes.

I never noticed sad and die, but now that you mention it that's what I see. It does begin with the root word sad.
I know it's popular, but it sounds like a caricature to me. I think of Sister Sadie (https://vocal.media/viva/who-is-sister-sadie). And names like Mamie, Hattie, Grady. I want to roll my eyes at how quaint it is for some reason.
It does not bother me to say, and I don't notice 'sad' in it, though I like Sally, Sylvie, Sunny, Katie, Maddie, Hallie better.

I've never thought about it having sad and die in it. I had a dog with this name growing up and a great-aunt, so I do think it's old, but it is definitely making a comeback and it's cute and ready for one. I wouldn't call it trendy yet, but it's possible that it gets to that point soon.
I really enjoy Sadie, but it's sadly off-limits for me as it's the name of young daughters of two separate acquaintances. Its popularity dipped for a while (after seeming to peak 10 years ago), but I think it's actually going to rise again rather than fade off the Top 100. That said, it doesn't feel tired or overly trendy, either.
Sadie Vivienne is really cute, but I think Rosalind at the end is too much. Sadie Rosalind isn't bad, though!
Sadie Rosamund
Sadie Catherine
Sadie Josephine
Sadie Louisa
Sadie Veronica
Sadie Annabelle
Sadie Isabelle
Sadie Francesca
Sadie Genevieve
Sadie Miranda
Sadie Amanda
Sadie Miriam
Sadie Theodora
Sadie Alexandra
Sadie Anastasia
Sadie Anneliese

Nice, and never thought of the sad and die, definitely overthinking it, nice combo too
Vintage and making a well-deserved comeback. It reminded me of the word "sad" at first, but I've learnt to appreciate it, and now I like it.
Sadie is a cute name and Vivienne and Rosalind are more formal. I like all the names, but I think Sadie has a different vibe than the other two so it seems awkward.

I know Sadie has a reputation of being trendy, but I've never met any, of the human variety at least.
Sadie is a character in a video game I love (set in 1899), and she's very badass. I didn't even notice the sad-die thing until you brought it up, lol (actually the sad/die thing is really fitting for the character, I wonder if the writers did that on purpose!).
Before the game character, my strongest association was the "Sadie Sadie Married Lady" song from Funny Face, which isn't so bad.
I think Sadie Vivienne Rosalind is nice.

It’s pretty but a bit too nicknamey for my liking.
John Farnham, anyone? Sadie The Cleaning Lady? First two stanzas, coming up!
Sadie, the cleaning lady
With trusty scrubbing brush and pail of water
Worked her fingers to the bone, for the life she had at home,
Providing at the same time for her daughter
Ahh Sadie, the cleaning lady
Her aching knee's not getting any younger
Well her red detergent hands, have for years not held a man's
And time would find her heart in spite of hunger
Scrub your floors, do your chores, dear old Sadie
Looks as though you'll always be a cleaning lady
Can't afford to get bored, dear old Sadie
Looks as though you'll always be a cleaning lady
Sadie, the cleaning lady
With trusty scrubbing brush and pail of water
Worked her fingers to the bone, for the life she had at home,
Providing at the same time for her daughter

Sister Sadie was a mean chick
and she tho′t that she was real slick
then she ran into Alphonso Brown
She hasn't been the same since Alphonso put her down.
Sister Sadie never worried
Sister Sadie never hurried
Then she ran into Alphonso Brown
She hasn′t been the same since Alphonso put her down.
She just paces around the floor
She don't have any mind no more
She just stares into empty space
With a frown on her face.
Sister Sadie was a honey
Always had a lots a money.
Then she rain into Alphonso Brown
She hasn't been the same since Alphonso put her down.
Sexy Sadie, what have you done?
You made a fool of everyone
You made a fool of everyone
Sexy Sadie, oh, what have you done?
Sexy Sadie, you broke the rules
You laid it down for all to see
You laid it down for all to see
Sexy Sadie, oh, you broke the rules
One sunny day, the world was waiting for the lover
She came along to turn on everyone
Sexy Sadie (Sexy Sadie), the greatest (she's the greatest) of them all
Sexy Sadie, how did you know?
The world was waiting just for you
The world was waiting just for you
Sexy Sadie, oh, how did you know?
Sexy Sadie, you'll get yours yet
However big you think you are
However big you think you are
Sexy Sadie, oh, you'll get yours yet
We gave her everything we owned just to sit at her table (Sexy Sadie)
Just a smile would lighten everything
Sexy Sadie (Sexy Sadie, she's the greatest) she's the latest and the greatest of them all
(Sexy Sadie, she's the latest and the greatest of them all)
She made a fool of everyone
(Sexy Sadie)
However big you think you are

I definitely consider the name Sadie as one of my favorites. I think that it's very nice and old-fashioned; an underused, classy name at that. It makes me think of a farm girl, who lived in the 1910s; she has long, red, curly hair and a gazillion freckles. She's a bit of a spitfire, very stubborn, loves to build things, loves to dance, and loves to grow flowers. For a while, the fact that you could make the words "sad" and "die" bothered me, but not anymore...it's Sadie, not Saddie! I have only met one girl named Sadie in my entire life (though, she is two years younger than me), and she was also a sweet joy to be around.
My favorite combinations with the name Sadie:
Sadie Rebecca
Sadie Hester
Sadie Flora
Sadie Janet
Sadie Vanessa
Sadie Lynetta
Sadie Loretta
Sadie Lenora
Sadie Ethel
Sadie Helen
Sadie Camilla
Sadie Monica
Sadie Anna
Sadie Gwenora
Sadie Jennifer
Sadie Ramona

You don't hear the sounds of sad and die in it; say and dee.
I don't like Sadie because it sounds like the name of a cheap saloon girl circa 1930, or like a stereotypical Jewish mother in a 1950s comedy show.
And I've run across so many dogs named Sadie it's not even funny.

I think it'll come back in a fairly big way. It has an old fashioned charm but has been seem on celebrities.
I don't particularly like it but can see why others do. It fits the whole Lily, Edie, Millie trend.
It doesn't bother me about the 'sad' or 'die', I just think it's too cutesy.
