I like Shay. It's an understated, friendly, girl-next-door kind of name.
I've only ever known girl Shays, but I've met one boy whose name was pronounced Shay but it was spelled Shae or Shea or something like that. I've also met a lot of Shay-something girls like Shayna, Shaya, Shayana, etc.
