Help[Opinions] Alicia, Precious and Naomi
I overheard a teen telling her friends that when she was younger (I think she said 6) she used to want three daughters names Alicia (ə-LEE-see-ə), Precious and Naomi. She apparently told her mum, who then ‘stole’ the name Alicia for her younger sister. What do you think of these names, individually and together?

I wouldn't touch Precious with a featherduster. Naomi is all right: I think it used to be a brand name for women's underwear, which would have been off-putting but probably no longer exists. Too biblical for me, but quite OK. I love Alice and would gladly use it; I'm also fond of Alison, with one L only. But Alicia doesn't please me, plus it's got pronunciation issues: I'm used to a-LISH-a.
I'll be honest: my first impression reading the three names together (and pronouncing Alicia as uh-LEE-shuh), I thought they were three Black/African-American sisters born during the 80s through the mid-90s (so, Millennials). Precious would either be the oldest or the youngest, not the middle; but if I saw those three as three Black sisters in a book, movie, or TV show set in inner-city America in the 90s or 2000s, I wouldn't even blink.
Judging by your post, though (and another one you made about the first babies of 2025), I'm guessing you're English, so it's possible the teenager you overheard is from a completely different culture than the one I alluded to above.
Considering the names individually... Naomi is genuinely one of my favorites--though it was knocked down a peg when someone pointed out to me that it spelled "I moan" backward. :-( Alicia is all right, though I do prefer the British English pronunciation (good luck getting that to fly in the U.S.). And Precious... well, when I was in central Africa I encountered the name several times--and it was unisex--and I've heard it on grown, successful women in this country. But I'm sorry: it was my grandparents' dog when I was growing up, so I can't hear this name and not think of it as a dog's name.

Not bad for a six year old. Alicia and Naomi are nice. Precious is just not my thing (and I keep hearing Gollum in my head).
