[Opinions] Re: Schuyler
My problem with Schuyler follows what Indy said. It's a surname that's been taken over, kr8tvly mispelled Skyler or Skylar and mispronounced. It reminds me of Michaela, which has been bastardized by Mikayla, Makaela, etc. Now, I could never see a Michaela - a pretty name - without thinking of (what I consider) the lowbrow trend. Any strength in the original name has been sapped by all the trendy changes. So, even if you use the Schuyler spelling and pronounce it correctly, I think it will be associated with the trendiness. If that doesn't bother you and you want to use it, I'd say its best on a boy.Schuyler and Lark sound a bit like members of a soap opera family to me, though.

Mikayla is not 'bastardized'. It's the Ukranian form.:)

right, butYou're right, but I believe most parents who name their daughter Mikayla doesn't know this. It's just a creative form for them, like Makayla, MacKayla etc.
