It's really weird that you dreamed about Hawthorne, because I was thinking about early American writers this morning .. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Walt Whitman, Henry David Thoreau, and ... Nathaniel Hawthorne (and more) ... and I was going to make a poll with these names, but decided to give it more thought. No joke.
I like your two names! I'm not sure if they quite go together (imo), but I like them both a lot separately (though I do think Alaric sounds like a bit like allergic at times).
