[Opinions] Days of the week
I met someone named Monday this week! In theory Monday seems a bit “out there” to me (especially compared to other days like Wednesday), but it actually sounded quite normal and nice on her. What are your thoughts on days of the week names? Any you like/ stand out to you?

Sunday was the first day name to be regularly used in modern times. Here are a couple of paragraphs from a column I wrote in 2018 explaining it:In 1904 Ethel Barrymore (1879-1959) starred in the Broadway play “Sunday”, about a woman left as a baby on a doorstep and called after the day she’s found. “That’s all there is, there isn’t any more,” a line Barrymore made so famous it was parodied in many films, came from “Sunday.” The play was the basis for “Our Gal Sunday”, a radio soap opera which began in 1937. Sunday, growing up poor in a Colorado mining camp, ends up marrying British Lord Henry Brinthrope. “Our Gal Sunday,” one of radio’s top shows for much of its run, lasted until 1959.
My first thought is the nursery rhyme:
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
But the child that is born on Sabbath day,
Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.Additionally, Friday reminds me of the character in "Robinson Crusoe," and Wednesday is, of course, associated with the Addams Family. I don't really care for the days of the week as names. It feels rather unimaginative to name a child after whichever day of the week they were born, but random to name a child after a day of the week that has no connection to them. Sunday is the nicest since it sounds like sunny days ahead and new beginnings.

I have all of them on my PNL, with my favourite being Sunday - it's cheerful, warm and not too out there in comparison to other days of the week as names. Friday is also nice.
I knew a kid named Friday. He was very nice.
I personally like Wednesday and Sunday, but not the others so much.
Not a fan of days of the week names.
I like some of them, but not really because of the day itself, you know? I like Wednesday and especially Tuesday, because I like the sounds. I'm not keen on any other day-names, though sometimes I like Friday in theory. It's interesting when a very unusual name just seems to work on certain people! I love that.
Absolutely not. The entire premise is ridiculous.
I’m not a fan of days of the week names. If I had to pick a favorite I’d say Sunday.
I was thinking about how Friday is the only day name after a woman (the Anglo-Saxon goddess Frig) so it would be interesting to see Friday as a name on a woman. I like Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for names as well. Though I'd used them on fictional characters and not in real life.
Not a fan of day of the week names. Domenica technically means Sunday in Italian but it’s really just the feminine form of Domenico.
I was born on a Wednesday and I like the Addams Family character, but I would never use it for a person. I like Sunday.
I've been obsessed with Tuesday as a name for quite a while. I'd love to meet a Tuesday. I don't mind the other days either. I think "day" is a lovely ending sound and being named after a day of the week is quirky but not off-putting.
I've actually met a young Tuesday before. I once accidentally called her Wednesday and she almost teared up, I felt so horrible. But apparently it happens all the time, and she hated her name.
I'd have been Thursday, and I'm very glad I'm not. I could just about see the point of Sunday - new beginning, first day of the week, who doesn't enjoy sunshine - but the rest do not appeal.
I think Monday is by far the prettiest day-of-the-week name!! It was on my PNL a few years ago.
