Meh, it's fine.
It's always struck me as a bit ludicrous as a name for a human, but a perfect name for an animal.
I think I feel this way because I think I first encountered it as the name of a cow in a children's book when I was maybe seven. I think that just left a long-standing impression, for better or worse.
Penny as a name has also always struck me as ludicrous, but I think, again, when I was little I was a coin collector and could not conceive of Penny as anything other than a copper coin of limited utility.
