[Opinions] Lina, Linna and Linnéa
Lina and Linnea were the most popular names in my Lin-poll.
Nobody liked the Zulu Lindiwe ("have waited") and only one the Albanian Lindita ("the day is born"). Maybe b/c nobody knew how to pronounce Lindiwe. I don't know either but I would say "lin-DEE-weh" until corrected.
But what about Linna? Linna is actually a Finnish surname ("castle") but I think that it would be fine as fn too.
So which do you like best:
Lina (LEE-nah)
Linna (LINN-ah)
Linnea (Li-NEH-ah)
"But it’s all right now.
I learned my lesson well.
You see you can’t please everyone
So you got to please yourself."

"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

I love them all, especially Linnéa, because my Mum's name is Lyn and I thought it would be a good way of honouring her in the future.

My friend is called Lindiwe. The way she pronounces it sounds a little more like lin-dee-way. The emphasis is not so much on the middle syllable as you have written it. I keep saying it to myself and the middle syllable seems the least emphasised and the other two equally so, if that makes sense.
I like Lina and Linnea, I think I like Lina better.

I love Linnéa.
But what about Vanamo?
I read that Vanamo is Finnish for linnéa, the twinflower.

How is Vanamo pronounced?
With the stress on the first syllable, VAN-ah-mo?
