Evergreen. Lovely name.
Boring and overused.
I prefer Sophie to Sophia. I think it's a pretty name, very likable.
I prefer other languages Sofiya, Sofya, Zofija, Zsófia, Sofija, Zofia, Sohvi, Žofie
And diminutives Sonya, Sonje, Fieke, Zsófika, Zsóka, Zośka, etcBut with English forms: Sofia > Sofie > Sophia > Sophie
I love Sophia, pronounced sofEYEa, and Sophie is an acceptable if predictable nickname. My friend's Sophia daughter has always been called Fia, which sounds a bit like Fire and, since she's a striking redhead, it fits her perfectly. I'd prefer either Fia or the full name: Sophia.
It's certainly not bad and has a pleasant and sweet sound to it, but it also make me think of the word, soapy. It's nice, but this is an instance where I prefer the more common, Sophia/Sofia.
