[Opinions] Cecil
Last night, I dreamt of a little Chihuahua dog named, Cecil, pronounced with a Seh, rather than a See at the beginning. More like Seh-suhl. Why I dreamt of that name and that particular pronunciation and why I dreamt of a Chihuahua is beyond me. 😅
There were other names featured in the dream, but that is the only one that stuck with me while waking up.
Thoughts on the name with either pronunciation?

It's quite sophisticated. I used to think it was elderly and dusty. Nevertheless, I don't think it would suit a chihuahua; rather, it would suit a noisy but adorable Yorkie. I prefer the pronunciation with the short E.

A superb name for a Chihuahua, very sharp! I like slightly prim human names on dogs; I've often thought Jeffrey on a Boston Terrier would be dashing.
Cecil with that pronunciation is really nice, I'm not as keen on see-sill.

I love Cecil! It's debonair but also kind of dweeby, which makes it more approachable than other debonair names. I prefer the "see" pronunciation because the other one is identical to the word sessile.
I like Cecil seh-seel, though I personally would not use. But I think it is ok for other people to use!
My father's name was Cecil, and in South Africa it's always pronounced with a short e - seh sil, like Cecil John Rhodes. It's very dated for a human, though a dog would be fine with it. Cecily is a lovely fem name that I'd gladly have used, given enough daughters.
I can see it working on a chihuahua. I'd pronounce it with a long e though. It would definitely be a change from all the Maxes and Bos and Charlies, for sure.
But I don't actually like the name. I don't like Cecilia either. It's probably a lot of factors working together, but the repeated s sounds are a big turnoff for me.
