[Opinions] What do you think about India?
At first when I heard some people named their kids India, I thought India as first name was one of the cases of celebrities sometimes gave unusual names to their children (especially because of association with Olivia Hussey's daughter India Eisley). But I recently looked at the chart to get the character name idea and found out that India was in U.S. name rankings in the late 19th century. That is interesting. https://www.behindthename.com/name/india/top/united-statesAbout India itself... I'm not have strong feeling about it. But I don't intend to use it personally.

Not really a fan.
I don't mind place names as given names, but I'm not really used to India in this aspect. It seems peculiar despite its popularity. It does have a nice sound, though.
Fun fact: one of the first women to be nominated for the American vice-presidency was named India Edwards.I've always thought this was a weird choice for a name, particularly considering the fact that most of the girls I've encountered with the name have no connection to the country. I don't love place names in general, but this one has always struck me as a bit odd.
It's a very pretty word/name, and I don't mind the Gone with the Wind association, but it doesn't really hold my interest that long. It feels shallow, like there's not much to work with there.
I don't like place names in general, but I used to think India was a bit eccentric and hippie because of its ties to mysticism, Yoga, etc, then once again, I met someone named India, and she deflated the name for me.

It's quite popular here in Australia, I've lost count of how many Indias I've met. I love it; it's always in my top 20, sometimes in my top 10. I think it looks and sounds really beautiful.
Strong association with a real country?
Um, it *is* a real country. And there's not anything actually wrong with using a country or city name for a person's name. It's not new; look at Florence.I think the name India is attractive.
not awful, but how many parents actually know or care about the different cultures of India? It's reminiscent of Americans who name their kids Cheyenne or Dakota with no consideration for native peoples.
I like it a lot.
Not a fan. I’m not wild on place names that aren’t well established as names like Virginia or Charlotte plus it has somewhat colonialist/imperialist implications, isn’t it the name of one of Lord Mountbatten’s daughters?
I live in an area with a large East Indian population and have met Indian women named India. My Avon lady is Indian and is named India. None of my Indian friends are bothered by anyone else using the name. They are more offended by white people being offended on their behalf.
I also thought so, Fiammetta, but Wikipedia doesn't. Strange! But I do agree with your opinion: could hardly be more colonial.
Not keen. Too geographical for use as a name imho and I think of the annoying India Wilkes in "Gone With the Wind".
I don't like place names on humans (exceptions for places that were named after person / name came before place, e.g. Bratislava or Israel).
