Is it possible to not think of Forrest Gump when you hear this name?

It's a nice name. I prefer the spelling Forest though.

I actually liked the name a year or two before the movie came out, but I still think it's hard not to associate Forrest with Forrest Gump even now. Also, since the character was named after Nathan B. Forrest, the founder of the KKK, that's not a good association, either. So I personally don't think it's a good idea. :-/

Forrest is a great name and I don't find the movie to be a problem. It's been in my top ten for boys for awhile now.

No, I think of Forrest Gump. However, is it necesarily a bad thing? Forrest Gump was a great character, despite his IQ. He was caring, gentle and in his own way, quite smart. But most people would make fun of this name.
Not that I would want to name a child after a movie character, but if it is a family name, I say go for it. As a middle name it would be great.

It's a family name for me, and that's what I associate it with. However, I think the name will be tied to Forrest Gump for a long, long time to come. Forrest could make a great middle name, though :-)
