[Opinions] Agnelia
Has anyone ever heard of this name? I saw it in a baby name book as a variant of Agnes, but it's not listed on this site. My maternal grandmother's name was Agnes, and I've been considering Agnes as a first name if my baby is a girl. I find Agnelia very appealing. I love it as a way to honor my grandmother, plus it's similar to Amelia, a name that I really like but that is becoming too popular for me. So, WDYT? Is this really a "legitimate" name or just one more made-up name from a hastily thrown together baby name book? Would you use it?

I have never heard of Agnelia but I think it is nice variant of Agnes. Another one is Agnessa. Annis is yet another variant. If I loved Agnelia, I would use it, made-up or not. It sounds like a "real name" and the family association makes it "legitimate" enough imo."You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams."

I've never heard of it, but I don't like it. I think Amelia is way prettier. L'Eau Qui Pleure

I'd use Agnes and call her Aggie or Nessie. (But my favorite form o fthe name is Inez.)

Agnes is in our top 3, along with Katya and Lucia (also for family). If we do name our daughter Agnes, DH & I plan to call her Aggie (this was also my grandma's nn), but we think Nessie is adorable, too.

Yay! Agnes, Katya and Lucia are all beautiful names. Much as I'd love a little Aggie running around, Katya and Lucia would be terrific also.

i have never heard of it. I think it is great that you want to honor your grandmother. I think Agnelia is a good variant of Agnes.
Btw, I know where you are coming from with the name Amelia. i named my daughter Emelia thinking I had a clever name and that it fairly unpopular, but this year it has really grown.

Emelia is beautiful! I also adore the name Amelie, but Amelia's popularity makes me a little nervous about this name, too. My DH loves Amelie too, though, so it's staying on our list of possibilities.
