The lead character in The Shining by Stephen King..

is named John Daniel Torrance, nn Jack. His son is Daniel Anthony Torrance. I find this mildly amusing since Jack is a recovering alcoholic.

I actually secretly love the combo Jack Daniel, it's a shame the brand had to "ruin" it!

I know a Jackson Daniel Surname, myself. Maybe these parents liked both names so much that they didn't care. :)

My best friend Ann her dad's name is Jack Daniels and she and her husband Kelly have decided to name their son Johnny Walker (Walker is their last name)

My brother has a friend John Daniel, nn Jack. I guess the story there is that his parents prefered Jack but just couldn't bring themselves to name their kid something so close to a whiskey. I wouldn't do it, but I don't mind admitting that I think it's funny. :-)

Yeah maybe. If they didn't drink or weren't familiar with the brand I think it's entirely possible. If they did know then that's pretty tacky.
