I know you're not asking for suggestions beyond the nickname, but I would *really* ditch that first name. Naming him
John or
Peter or something would be far more typical if his parents were trying to give him a name that would help him 'blend in' in
America.
Riley doesn't make a bit of sense for either part of his heritage or for the long-common habit of making one's background less conspicuous. If anything its connotation to me is Irish, which wouldn't have done him any favors around the turn of the century (and certainly not before then). It feels way off the mark.
