Help[Opinions] It's in Lebanon.... (m)

And we're now at war with them. We're bombing them, and we are being bombed right back. They're the reason for being stuck at home all the time, the ruining of my summer vacation, and the constant booms and sirens (there was one just now). Very bad association. VERY bad. Where did she hear it - on the news? It would be so fun for her daughter to know she was named because of a war.
I don't know about similar sounding names. She can't use Tripoli, though. Shouldn't, anyway.
And btw, I don't really think Elisabeth is so tasteful with an S. It takes away the some snaz that Elizabeth has. And it looks misspelled and weak, to me. But it is wonderful compared with Tripoli.

Correction....
There may be a small town or area in Lebanon called Tripoli (but I'm not aware of one), but the real Tripoli you are thinking of is in Libya. It's the capital city on the barbary coast.

No, if you check your atlas, it *is* a city in Lebanon . . .
There is also a Tripoli in Libya, but since the Lebanese city of Tripoli has been in the news, that's the relevant one here.

However, the important thing is that most of your replies are completely anti this as a name which is what I wanted to hear. Thank you!

That is fine and dandy. Elisabeth is the older of the two spellings period.
