[Opinions] Pronunciation of name
How would you pronunciate the name "Jasiela"? My stepdaughter is naming her baby this. She is pronouncing it as "Gisella". Do I need to make a comment to her about it?

It looks like jay-see-ELL-ah to me. Why not spell it Gisella / Gisela / Jisela?

Yes, you do. That would be jazz-ee-EH-lah. There is no way that anyone could get Gisella out of that mess.
I agree with what's been said. I think there's only a small, small chance people will pronounce that name the same as Gisella. I thought it was jaz-ee-ELL-a (definitely four syllables).
Try to reason with her gently.

Without reading further in your post, I silently pronounced it jazz-EE-la.
i would prn. it Juh-SEEL-ya
I think her name will definately be misspelled then. When I looked at the name I thought: ja-see-EL-lah, it's not that different from Gisella I guess. I'm not sure if you should a comment, if you decide to do so, do it very subtle, that's what I would do. Like asking if shre's worried people will spell and pronounce her name wrong, and if that would bother her.

Yes, I think you do... I can't even say it. It makes me want to say something along the lines of Jazzy-ella. =S
Just tell her that while you think it's a lovely name (lie if you must), her poor little darling will have a hard time in school explaining how it's said and spelled. Therefore, you think she'd be much better off with the equally nice spelling of "Gisella". It's a bunch of crap, but it's probably the best way of being successful.

She is pronouncing it as "Gisella". - Then why not spell it Gisella or Gisela?
Do I need to make a comment to her about it? - Yes, but I don't think it will do any good...
