Help[Opinions] Rosamund
I love the name Rosemary but cannot use it because it is the name of Eric’s stepmother and it would cause too many complications. Because of this I’ve been searching for an alternate Rose name. I’m having trouble finding one I like half as much as Rosemary but Rosamund is really growing on me. WDYT? Also, his step-mother goes by the nn Rose 90% of the time. Do you think people would naturally try to shorten Rosamund to Rose or Rosie? If so, do you think this could be avoided by calling her an alternate nn from birth like Rosa? I'd prefer her to go by Rosamund but if people want to shorten it, I'd like to have some say (wishful thinking, I know). Can you think of any other nns that could possibly be used (other than Mundy which I think sounds hideous)?

Rosamund is very pretty, although I prefer (and love!) the French form, Rosemonde.

Rosalind / Rosalinda/ Rosaline / Rosalyn
Rosanne / Roseanne
Rosanna / Roseanna
Roswitha (I love this- it's very different, and comes with a neat namesake)
Rosalia / Rosalie
Rosabella / Rosabel
Personally I like the nns Rose and Rosie / Rosy, but if it would cause confusion with other relatives, you could just ask for her not to be called that. There's always Rosa (like you said) and Ros / Roz. I also like Romy, and Roma.
For Rosalia / Rosalie, you could use the nn Allie or Ali. For all of the Rosanne names, you could use Annie, and for Rosalind, you could use Lindy.

Is Roma too far-fetched?
Roma is another name I like but I currently don't feel enough connection to Rome or Italy to use it.

Roma as a nick for Rosamund? No, I don't think it is farfetched. It's sort of on the same level as Carly for Caroline; and it's sweet and affectionate sounding in relation to Rosamund. Only thing about it is, as you say, the Rome connection - but I think metropolis names are 'normal' enough you could use Roma and not have it "mean" Rome.
Don't like Romy / Romie, eh? I know what you mean - it takes a certain sort of girl (who's definitely NOT like the one in the film) to wear this name well. Have to see what she's like, I guess.
