[Opinions] Maxine
My friend is 6 months pregnant with her second baby and is thinking of naming her (if it is a her) Maxine. WDYT?

It would be different and refreshing. I've noticed the -ine, -een ending is extremely rare these days. But the "maxi," as in pad, would be a problem, I'm sure.

I don't really care for the sound of it, and it seems outdated but not in a sweet-old-fashioned-ready-for-a-comeback way. Sounds more like a smart-mouthed gum-smacking waitress to me. Also reminds me of Maxine from the Hallmark cards (also not the best association). :b Max WOULD be a cute nn, though. Maxi not so much. :-/

I like it in theory--especially with the nn Mack. But on the other hand, I could have a Marcella and call her Mack. So why use Maxine? ;) It's fine for someone else's kid--I'd be happy to see it in the birth announcements--but I don't think I'd ever use it myself.Array

It's refreshing, but it reminds me of a maxi pad.

I was just thinking about this namebut I have to confess, I hate it. It's just . . . ugly. "Instead of crying over spilled milk, go milk another cow." - Anonymous"There is no excellence without difficulty."

I think Maxine would be very refreshing to see on a little girl, nowadays.

I think it's very nice. It's not something I would use, but I'd like to see it on someone else's child.

It's cute. I'd love it w/ the nn Max or Maxie (if she wants to use a nn.)

Maxine is a lovely name! It'd be great to hear it on a little girl today.

yuckThis is so ugly. Maxine is a name for a crabby old lady, like the lady on the Shoebox Greeting Cards who's always griping.

Maxine is a nice name in my opinion, and I think it would be great to see this name on someone young these days.

I've been really liking Maxine recently. It's cute, and kind of spunky, and definitely underused. I think it's wonderful.-------

I like it. I think Maxine is cute, fresh, and snappy. I think Maxie would be a cute nn.
