Place of residence: Hamburg, Germany.
Just as we thought our family couldn’t possibly get any bigger, we managed to surprise our family and friends with a double shock. I (Imogen) became pregnant just as we were adopting our fourth adoptive child. After seeing Nicholas, an Australian boy, in a foster home on our most recent trip back to Australia, we decided that we wanted to adopt him. It was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made, even though neither Albrecht or I imagined having a big family. Even better, I have found out that our second biological child is going to be a girl, which will be great for Sophia. We have even sorted out the name – Freya Amaryllis. Albrecht chose it for her and I just love both names.
Anyway, Nicholas has been an absolute pleasure to have in the family. Christian has instantly bonded with him and they are always following each other around. He is also getting along well with Sophia, since they are so close in terms of age. Unlike Felix, Max and Sophia, we have decided not to change Nicholas’ name. We are however, giving him a middle name of Johannes to continue the German theme in our children’s names.
Christian, Felix and Max have just started school, which leaves Albrecht (who is currently on long service leave) to look after Sophia and Nicholas.
