[Opinions] Sathcel?
WDYT of Satchel on a /boy?
Would it fit in with Harper (f or m) and Rowan (f or m)?Also, what are other names that are like Satchel, Rowan, and Harper?

Not Surprising...that I am the oddball out here. I really like the name Satchel for a boy. I think once someone gets over the "handbag" thing, they would have no problem attaching the name to a mischevious little boy. I also love Rowan, not as wild about Harper, but I know a little girl named Harper and she is a doll. Cicero is a bit cartoony sounding to me (not sure why). One of my husband's uncles is named Cicero Hazel. I also don't think that Cicero goes as well with the other names.~Michelle (Mo6)

Yeah, 'cos every child wants to be named "bag" or "sack"Seriously, this name is the naming equivalent of a kick-me sign. People will be bagging - ahaha - his name all his life. It's really not a nice thing to do to a child.I love Rowan on a boy and can tolerate it on a girl; Harper I can only just tolerate on a boy, it's nms on a girl. I don't like the sibset because it contains too many word names.

Oh, no one has mentioned this yet: Satchel is a term that many comedians and average joes use for male genitals. I would definately not want that on my child.

The sibset works, butI don't like Satchel, at all.
I mean, you wouldn't name your child "Carry-On Bag" or "Suitcase", so why Satchel?Plus I think of Satchel the dog from the comic strip Get Fuzzy. I like him/that comic, but the name definitely doesn't work for a human.

I dunno... I wouldn't name my child Satchel either, but I do think "Handbag" has a certain sophistication to it, don't you? Very "Importance of Being Earnest."

Satchel is what I call my bag. I wouldn't use it on a person.~~~

A satchel is a type of suitcase. I wouldn't care to name my child Bag, Sack, Purse, or Suitcase, and the same goes for Satchel. Sorry!I prefer Harper on a boy, and ditto with Rowan. Harper and Rowan make a decent sibling set imo. Satchel fits in OK, but seems a little stranger than the rest to me.

Satchel is cute. Harper sounds cute but seems a little better for a boy than a girl. Rowan sounds good either way.I can't think of any similar style names, but I'll try to think of some. I AM A PROUD MOMMY!Alyx-Andrea Madison and Lyndsay Kylie

Harper and Rowan are surnamey, posh, and what an British friend of ours calls poncey. Satchel isn't. (Around here, there is a variation of it used as a surname, mainly among black people. IT's Satchell and you say it Sat-CHELL.)
Names that would go with Satchel include Valise, Attache, (nn Shay?) Purse, and Pocketbook. lolol
