I checked the comments section for the name
Nevaeh, and I sensed that not many people on this site like the name. Specifically, people didn't like the fact that it is invented ("heaven" spelled backwards), and therefore has no meaning. I racked my brain to think of a "legitimate" phonetic equivalent and came up with Nevea, from "neve", which is Italian for "snow". Nevea could be a modern variant of
Neva.
So here's my question for those of you who hate
Nevaeh: if the name were spelled Nevea (and therefore had an actual meaning), would you like the name? Assume it's pronounced like ne-VAY-uh. I found that, although
Nevaeh is a name I could never give a child, I liked Nevea.
