Both names are nice, but I love Alice. And Alice Juliet is stunning. Gorgeous! (Though that's not to say that I don't love Alice Ruby and Matilda Juliet also)
I don't think Alice needs a nn, nor do I think It'd be likely that she'd get called Ali, really.
Hildy is okay. It's not my cup of tea, but it's kind of cute. I just like Matilda plain and strong :)
