I really can't imagine that name for a boy, Skyball. A girl, yes, but I just get too many feminine vibes from it to imagine it for a boy.
Wasn't "Tanis" the name of the city in *Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark* where the ark was supposed to be hidden?
Also, I found this website which claims that "Tanis" is the Greek name for the Phoenician goddess, Tanith.

There is also a Persian goddess named "Tanais", who is identified with such goddesses as Anaitis, Artemis , and of course Nanaea . :)
