Celeste - say-les-stay, chel-leh-stay, chel-leh-stah, or just seh-lest?

Seh-lest. That's the only way I've ever heard it pronounced.:)

As a woman's name, this name was introduced into English speaking countries from France, and so seh-LEST is the most usual pronunciation, following the French name Céleste. "chel-es-tay" would approximate the pronunciation of the Italian name Celèste, which is used for both boys and girls in Italy.

As an American, I'd say that seh-LEST is the most common prn, but I also really like the cheh-LEH-stay prn a lot. It's too bad that I probably couldn't name a DD Celeste and have it prn that way.

I say it "seh-lest" and I think most everybody in this country probably would too.
