What would be another nickname for Madeleine aside from the normal "Maddie"? I can't stand that nickname; I think it's very overused and unattractive.

In the US, people would probably reach for Maddie first much like people seem to want to use Gabby as a nick for Gabrielle. There are, however, several nns that can be derived from Madeleine: Addie, Dell, Leine, Leinie, etc.I'm with you and prefer Madeleine.

Would you pronounce Leine as "Line", "Leen" or "Lynn"?
I've just heard so many pronunciations of the poor name that I'm hoping we're on the same page.

I understand the Madeleine spelling to be pronounced like mad-uh-LENN. I guess that's the terribly French pronunciation, though. :b Most people, at least in the U.S., would just say MAD-uh-lynn, I think.

Maybe Madelle it's a French name prn mah-dehl that is a variation of Madeleine and could be a nn too. Mandy is another idea but that is pretty popular. I personally like the nn Dell, that would be my choice.

These are all the nicknames I've personally seen/heard of for Madeleine (and variants like Madalyn).Mads
Mada
Maddy
Addie
Addy
Maddie
Del / Dell / Dellie (one girl; she answered to all of these.)
Madel (which was pronounced just like it looks: ma-dell)
Linnie
Delyn (pronounced like Helen).I think it would be easiest to stick with Madeleine as a name; I think it's a beautiful name without using a nn.
