I like it. To me it's vaguely "bad boy" -ish ... the similarity of sound to the word "shame" makes it seem rebellious to me (not ashamed). It's one of those rare names that is both "soft" and "butch" at the same time ... kinda sexy.- mirfak

I don't like it, it sounds ugly to me. Right next there to Sean.

Don't like it: too close to "shame" to me.

I was a little scared when I saw I really like this...usually I expect to see the opposite gender following. *sigh of relief* Anyway, I like Shane. Not the greatest, but certainly a name I would love to hear a little more often~~Kris~~

I used to like Shane. Then I worked with an awful Shane. Now I like Zane instead.

Love it. It's one of my current favorites. My two favorite combos for it are Shane Robert and Shane Anthony. :)
Yes, you want her.
Look at her, you know you do.
Possible she wants you too.
There is one way to ask her.
It don't take a word,
not a single word.
Go on and kiss the girl.

I have extremely negative associations, so I do not like the name, but Sean I adore. ~Tia~

I have a friend about age 28 named Shane. In his case it is short for a first name which is a family surname Shannon. It is not very macho, and people call him Shawn sometimes, but he is still Shane.
