I don't care for it. It's too close to the word "daring" for my liking plus I have a bad association with this name.

I really think it is a fine name. However, it will always make me think of my friend Derek whom everyone called Darren, so I only think of it as a goofy nickname unless I really stop and ponder it.

I like Darren a lot, but I could probably never use it because of a very, very, very strange English teacher I had in 7th grade. He's like a legend... a really weird legend... where I live, so it would be practically evil to name my kid that.You don't have that problem, I'd imagine, so I think it would be a nice, refreshing name to use.
