[Opinions] Laura
Lately, I've been liking Laura. Simple, plain old Laura. It's ranked #145 and falling on the US charts, which also makes me happy.
In the past, I've seen Laura as very blah. Laurel was cool, because it was earthy and hippy. Lauren was horrible because its so popular in my age group. And I have a secret love for Laurentine because I think it sounds cool. But Laura? Eh. It was blah. You here it fairly consistantly, but... eh. It's Laura. I guess its somewhat of a "name from my mom's generation" name.
So, wdyt of Laura? Plain, old Laura.
And, for bonus fun, rank the Laur- names from your favorite to least favorite:

Laurel
Laurentine

I'm loving Laura right now too. Laura Ingalls Wilder is my all-time favorite author/person, and I think it would be awesome to name a daughter after her. (We are trying to have another baby now.) I only know a few girls named Laura, and all of them are over 18.
My name combo is Laura Juliet, to go with big brother Wesley Ryan.
I've never heard of Laurentine before! I had no idea it was a name.
Of the others, I'm neutral on them. They kind of bore me. So I can't really rank them.

Laura is wonderful, and I've been starting to like it too. You can accredit my liking for this name to Mar, who has made me like it ever since there was a new addition in her family who bears this name. I know about two Lauras (although I've probably met more) and they are very nice people.

3. Laurentine (even thought this seems a bit masculine to me)

I don't like Laura at all personally. It's still very blah to me. Lauren as well.
Laurel on the other hand, I really like it! Of course, the fact that one of my favorite authors is named Laurell certainly doesn't hurt.
My sister's name is actually Laurie, pronounce LAWR-ee rather than LOR-ee though. My mother was a fan of Little Women and the names of the sisters were all taken by other family members at the time.

It's my name. =) And I love it. It's simple and classy and it can suit many different personalities.
I like Laurel and Lauretta is all right. I think I prefer Loretta. Laurentine is interesting, but not one I can see myself liking. I don't like the others.
My rankings:
1. Laura - I'm biased, though, of course.
2. Laurel
3. Lauretta
4. Laurentine

I love Laura - it's simple but sweet (and of course I'm another Laura Ingalls fan!). It'd be on my list if I didn't already have a cousin named Laura.
I also like Laurel.

Laura is nice enough, though not a fave of mine. I immediately think of Laura Ingalls Wilder, my favorite character when I was growing up, so it has a good association for me :-)

You left off my favourite!
More than any other, I love Laure. It's simple, classy, and different.
I would really, truly love Laura (as in Ingalls Wilder), but I knew an absolutely horrible one in high school. Maybe in a few years, it'll be okay again.
I also like Laurentia / Laurencia (but not Laurentine, which seems a bit masculine, ala Augustine) and Lauretta / Laurette. And I love Laurie, but as a nickname. Lauren and Laurel both bug me, though I used to like Laurel.

I need the smell of summer--
I need its noises in my ears.
A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.
