Help[Opinions] Pandora and Serenity
What do you think of Serenity? Girly or Tomboy? Sweet or Bratty? Posh or 'Trailor-Trash'(hate that word! whats a good alternative?)

Serenity: trendy and unfortunately reminds me of the adult diaper brand name. I think it's guaranteed to be one of those names that goes out of style as fast as it came in, and folks will tell 25-year-old Serenity that her name is "so '00s." Like Brittany is 80's now.
But I should add that I just dislike it, so I'm bound to come up with reasons besides just "it sounds annoying and I don't want to call anyone that."
It's not girly and not tomboy; it's about like Brittany. Bratty, IMO. Most any name ending in -ity sounds kitschy to me but overall it's yuppie - not posh, not common, just trendy. (Trendy isn't bad in itself IMO)
Pandora is more "bohemian" style, IMO. You might, or might not, say that that is the same thing as "sophisticated." (To me the word sophisticated is neither positive nor negative, but a little of each) I like it alright.. one of those names that seems a little bit "gutsy" or bold because of the negative associations with Pandora's Box. I also have, for some reason lost in the mists of memory, an association with heavy metal music. It's a little bit "cold" seeming and would need to be "grown into."
Amaranthe is a neat name, needs a short form for everyday use but it's nice. Mara? It's also kind of bohemian-seeming to me. Yuppie but not trendy. (Yuppie = image-conscious, also not necessarily a bad thing)

Pandora did release evil into the world, but so did Eve according to Judeo-Christian tradition, and her name is frequently used despite this. It's interesting how both of these traditions cite women as the root of all the world's ills, however.

plus I don't see the big deal, I mean many like Persephone,and she's the goddess of the underwold, and no one things anyhting negative about that.
Pandora isn't that bad.

In the USA "blue collar" would be a non-pejorative alternative for "trailer trash", which I agree is a very bad term to use.
The meaning of the word Serenity of course brings to mind a fairly shy, quiet, and happy child, one who is not a tomboy but not aggressively "femme" either.
Pandora sounds much more aggressive to me. It seems to me like it would be a good name for a beautiful villainess in a Disney animated film. :)

Serenity: I think of the ship from Firefly. I used to love this name years ago, but have outgrown it. It's very feminine...but it's just too much for a name. I remember on another board someone posting about a little girl named Serenity. She was misbehaving and her mother kept calling her. Serenity, stop. Serenity, behave. Serenity, NOW! (Google the latter) I wouldn't use it.
Pandora - This, along with a few other names from mythology are just too out there for me. I can't see it working in real life with the person being teased, and being teased often. If that does not bother you, than I'd say go ahead and use it.
Amaranthe: I prefer Amaranta or Amarante. LOvely, pretty...bit of a mouthful but could work.

Serenity is girly but bratty to me. I think it's neither posh or "trashy," but overall, I dislike it. I don't like word names.
I love Pandora, and Amaranthe is also nice. I love mythology, though.

Thats really weird these two names have been on my mind alot recently Serenity I love as word but the more I think about it the more I thinks thats all it is...a Word I dont think I could use it as a name, as lovely as it it.
Pandora again I really like it has a lovely sound and yes i think it sound sophisticated, but again, I'm really noit sure i would ever use it.

I think Pandora isn't a good name for a real kid. People will always be talking about her box.
