We have decided to name our baby girl Mylie, but we can't decide on a middle name. What do you think of Mylie Victoria?

If you are going to use such a pretty Hawaiian name, then at least spell it correctly. This version looks trendy and unappealing to me. The actual spelling of the name is Maile and that is just lovely. Maile Victoria would be a pretty combo.

First off, I'm not going to lie and pretend I like Mylie/Miley/Maile. I havn't even heard of it until recently, and i think it has something to do with a child actress of the same name. All of a sudden everyone seems to love it, and I have a feeling it will experiance a small boom which doesn't add any appeal.
I think it is pretty, but peraps it could be used as a nickname for a more formal name that could be better for an adult: Malina, Malinda, Mallory, Milena, Millicent, Mirela / Mirella, Mirele? That being said Victoria seems to balance the newness of Miley, and th combo has nice flow.

I agree. I have a feeling that the name is becoming popular due to the actress as well, but I also noticed that Maile was appearing regularly on birth announcements after Wayne Brady and his wife used Maile for their daughter some years ago. People try to pass off Maile as a legitimate Hawaiian name, but what gets me is that Maile wouldn't even be pronounced like Miley in Hawaiian. And was Maile even used as a traditional first name by Hawaiians? It seems like it's just a Hawaiian word that people have recently started using as a first name (kind of like Cerise, which is not a traditional name in France by any means). Another thing that bothers me is that Miley Cyrus's name isn't even Miley. Her dad used to call her Smiley, which lead to Miley. Miley/Mylie, etc. reminds me of Nevaeh in that regard although Miley sounds like it could be a surname. I still don't care for it though. It's about as trendy as you can get.

Instead of repeating myself here, I'm going to refer you to a response I gave another poster who inquired about the name Keeley. This is basically how I feel about Mylie: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=748982&board=babyVictoria would make a lovely middle name for any other name.

Mylie Victoria sounds very nice and I love Victoria. But I really prefer Maile Victoria - it looks different and it just looks more attractive to me, plus it's the Hawaiian word for the flowers used in a lei. Either way, it's a very pretty name! Good luck :)

If you're dead set on Mylie, I think Victoria is a good, classic, mature-sounding name to balance out the trendy and childish cuteness of Mylie.

Mylie Victoria flows nicely, but I really dislike the name Mylie to be honest. I find it to be very trendy and cutesy. Maile is better, but I still don't care for it.

Pretty, although I think Maile Victoria looks better IMO. Maile is pronounced the same as mylie.

Thank you for your reply, Sabrina.
I have heard before that Maile is the original spelling, but I can't help but see Male/Mail everytime I see it. We were also considering Miley, but we're afraid people would pronounce it mill-ee, instead of my-lee. We're still not 100% sure which spelling we will use.
