[Facts] Re: "Aruba"
Aruba is an island and the meaning of the name of it isn't sure. Some theories are:
- A combination of the Carribean words oro and oubao meaning: "shell" and "island".- The Guarani-Indians called it oirubae which means "companion"; the island was seen as a companion of Curaçao (Another island)- Derived from the Spanish oro hubo meaning: "there was gold".- The name of an area around Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela "Oruba", where some of the original natives to Aruba came from.- Derived from the word uru, which means "canoe", making it "canoe-island", because it was only reachable by canoe. I don't know if Aruba means something in Arabic, I've never heard it used as a name for a person.
